2012 HOWARD COUNTY SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS ANNOUNCED
Community Foundation of Howard County awards more than $420,000 in scholarships for 2012-13 school year
June 15, 2012 — Through the Community Foundation of Howard County, 67 scholarships and 32 renewals from 36 scholarship funds have been awarded to Howard County students with an approximate value of $420,000, including the two Lilly Endowment Community Scholarships.
"A lot of students are out working, volunteering and contributing in our communities," said Glenn Grundmann, Scholarship Chair for the Community Foundation of Howard County. "Thanks to our donors, it is gratifying to be able to support our recipients' achievements by helping with the expense of college. These scholarships provide encouragement and motivation to students to pursue higher education."
The students and scholarships they were awarded are listed below:
Carl Anderson Scholarship
Kelsie Cook, daughter of Laura Cook and Kyle Cook, is a Eastern High School graduate. She will be attending Indiana Wesleyan University to pursue a degree in education.
Kathie Beatty Memorial Scholarship
Katelyn Singer, daughter of Todd and Angel Singer, is a Western High School graduate. She will be attending Purdue University to study psychology.
Alex & Kitty Bell Scholarship
Hannah Werner, daughter of Marley and Jan Werner, is studying elementary/special education at Purdue University.
Jenny Michelle Butler Memorial Scholarship
Andrew Pemberton,son of Tom and Dawn Pemberton, is a Northwestern High School graduate. He will attend Taylor University to study chemistry.
Andrew Van Auken, son of Jerry and Robin Van Auken, is a Western High School graduate. He will attend Purdue University to study mechanical engineering.
M. Joyce Cook Memorial Scholarship
Kyle Condon, son of Brian and Mary Katherine Condon, is a Northwestern High School graduate. Kyle will attend Grace College to study ministry.
Roy L. Crume Scholarship
Richard Burns, son of Richard and Beth Burns, is a Carroll High School graduate. Richard plans to attend Redlands Community College to study animal science.
Courtney Gilman, daughter of Ronald and Tammi Gilman, is a Kokomo High School graduate. She will attend Indiana University Kokomo and then transfer to Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis to study dental hygiene.
Thomas Lytle, son of Thomas and Donna Lytle, is a Pioneer High School graduate. He plans to study welding.
Morgan Tinkel, daughter of Kevin and Kathy Tinkel, is a Oak Hill High School graduate. She will attend Ivy Tech Community College to study radiology.
Receiving renewals are Emily Allen, Macey Malott, Cory Plough, Brittany Ruff and Megan Vester.
Jesse W. Dunn Total Effort Award
Blake Brutus, son of Bill and Stephanie Brutus, is a Kokomo High School graduate. Blake will attend Indiana University to study mathematics.
Richard L. and Marion J. Eller Scholarship
Megan Harshman, daughter of Paul Harshman, is a Northwestern High School graduate. She will attend Butler University to study pharmacy.
Receiving renewals are: Alan Mast and Andrew Hunkeler.
Tony Gabriel Student Athlete Scholarship
Tyler McClish, son of Charles and Jo Dee McClish, is a Taylor High School graduate who plans to attend Vincennes University to study precision manufacturing technology.
Elizabeth Vautaw, daughter of Sherrie Alexander and Keith Vautaw, is a Taylor High School graduate who will be attending Indiana University Kokomo.
Receiving renewals are: Emily Dill and Ryan Goudy.
Hamilton-Middleton Scholarship
Kody Augustine is the son of Kevin and Vicki Augustine and is a Western High School graduate. Kody will be attending Indiana University to study business.

Madison Waltemath, daughter of Ross and Shelly Waltemath, is a Kokomo High School graduate who plans to attend Indiana University to study nursing.
Gerald Hood Memorial Scholarship
Emily Wallace, daughter of Jeff and Lisa Wallace, is a Northwestern High School graduate who plans to attend Ball State University to major in elementary education.
William S. & Susannah B. Hough Scholarship
Shayla Elmore, daughter of Stacy Pointer and Christopher Elmore, is a Kokomo High School graduate. She will study special education at Indiana University Kokomo.
Charlene Johnson, daughter of Chrystal Johnson, is a Western High School graduate who plans to attend Indiana University to study nursing.
Anthony Rentz, son of James and Nikki Rentz, is a Taylor High School graduate. He will study new media communications at Indiana University Kokomo.
Cody Whitehead, son of Debra Hearn and Edward Whitehead, is a Kokomo High School graduate. He plans to attend Indiana University Kokomo to study accounting.
Sara Yeagley, daughter of Robert and Kimberly Yeagley, is a Eastern High School graduate who will attend Indiana University Kokomo to study psychology.

Brooklyn Juday, daughter of Eric and Paula Juday, is a Tipton High School graduate. She plans to attend the University of Pennsylvania to study business.
Charissa Richards, daughter of Mark and Diane Richards, is a Eastern High School graduate. She will attend Purdue University to study pre-veterinary medicine.
Danny M. Keating Sr. Memorial Scholarship
Evan Doran, son of David and Laura Doran, is a Taylor High School graduate. He plans to attend Indiana University to study computer science.
